Launching ceremony for 'Gandhi's outstanding leadership' by P.A Nazareth

U Thant House together with the Embassy of India cohosted the launch of the Myanmar edition of retired ambassador P.A. Nazareth's book "Gandhi's Outstanding Leadership". This was the 19th foreign in which the book has been published. The Myanmar edition was translated by U Hein Luk and published by Myanmar Heritage publications.

The launch was held in the presence of Yangon Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung, prominent members of Myanmar's civil and political society and representatives of the diplomatic community.


Indian Ambassador Vikram Misri opened the event. Historian Dr. Thant Myint-U gave a brief speech in which recalled Gandhi’s impactful visits to then Burma, particularly the one in 1929, and his grandfather U Thant’s great reverence for Mahatma Gandhi.


In his remarks the author P.A. Nazareth spoke about how Gandhi with his ‘Soul Force’ praxis had “revolutionized and spiritualized revolution in history’s most blood stained and revolutionary century”, and of Gandhi having “shown the way to counter religious bigotry by transcending religions into the realm of spirituality”. PA Nazareth also recalled U Thant’s outstanding leadership as UN Secretary-General.
