U Thant Memorial Lecture:'The Soul of a People' by Shri Gopal Gandhi

The President of Myanmar U Htin Kyaw visited U Thant House, together with the Speaker of the Upper House Mahn Win Khaing Than, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe, Yangon Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, Pyithu Hluttaw MP Daw Pyone Kathy Naing, and other ministers and officials.Mr Gopalkrishna Gandhi, recent Governor of West Bengal and grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, delivered the 2017 U Thant Memorial Lecture at 4pm in the garden at U Thant House, titled "The Soul of a People".Dr Thant Myint-U and Sofia Busch also gave remarks on U Thant House and U Thant's life and legacy.NLD Patron U Tin Oo and Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein were amongst the 150 guests.These are some photos from the event together with a media release.(Photo credits: Ko Aung Pyae, Ko Thurein Aung, Ma Ei Ei Theint)
